Above Everything
a poem by Irene
age 5 1/2
Above the trees
Above the birds
Above the butterflies too
Above the flowers and the bees too
But not above the rain
Into a rainstorm, but having lots of fun
Above the ladybugs and above the grass
And next to Shainda who we can barely see
We picked pretend flowers too
But we weren't above the sun.

*Shainda is Irene's pretend friend. Shainda made her very first appearance on Easter morning of 2002 (which i didn't remember until we saw some video). I don't remember her being around again until after Rhys was born - but she's still with us occasionally. She and Rhys' pretend friend, Harry, the Pteradactyl, sometimes play together.

shaz - thank you :) i am hoping she'll make some more poetry soon. i love how she used to just say "mama, write this down" and off we'd go. my favorite poem of hers is still "All To Me"
deb - *beam* i'm done whelmed over! when irene gets home i'll show her your post in response to her poem. she will be delighted! and i'd like to let you know, as well, that you are one of the most creative people i know and i feel hugely lucky to know you. you are one of those people who makes the world a better place!
5 and a half? WOW! She's a smart one :-)
Wow, oh wow! That's amazing!
Enjoy the japanese food with children and grandparents on Sunday --- we sometimes take the children with us, but at the moment we have a babysitter the children like, and so it is nice to get an evening away!
Thanks for visiting earlier,
N.
