The Countdown Meme

i got this from DebR's blog

TEN random things you might not know about me:
1. I have two Bachelors degrees
2. One is in Spanish Literature and Culture
3.The other is in Psychology w/an emphasis in research
4. I decided to go for the Spanish BA when I realized that I could get most of the major done during my year in Spain
5. I have 4 siblings
6. I have visited 27 states (if I counted correctly) including alaska and hawaii
7. I used to have a recurring nightmare at least twice/month. I rarely get it anymore.
8. The first concert I went to (w/o parents) was Berlin (their love life tour). Talk Talk was the opening band and they got an encore! it was at the Warfield in San Francisco and I went with my sister
9. The first concert I remember seeing was a big family affair at The Paramount (I think) in oakland (?). it was The Irish Rovers
10. It took me very little time (less than 1 week) to know that rob was The One.

NINE places I've visited:
1. Madrid, Spain
2. 3 of the Gallego provinces in Spain
3. The Big Island
4. Venice, Italy
5.Cowdenbeath, Scotland
6. Bonn, Germany
7. Kennebunk, Maine (honeymoon)
8. Norfolk, Virginia
9. Every state west of the Mississippi

EIGHT ways to win my heart:
1. love me despite my odd quirks and clutter
2. treat my children like people and in a kind manner (which is not to say that they cannot be reprimended when necessary)
3. cook a lovely meal and clean afterwards
4. clean my house and help me figure out an organization system that will work for me
5. fold AND put away clothes
6. match the socks – heh heh
7. Laugh and have fun
8. Listen when I talk - really, truly LISTEN. (ooh, this is a good one. stolen from DebR)

SEVEN things I want to do before I die:
1. Go to New Zealand.
2. Take my children and Rob to Spain and show them the places I loved
3. Get my masters and teaching credential
4. Make a difference
5. meet DebR.
6. Drive across the country and see the sights along the way
7. See the wonderful people my children become and truly get to know the children they may have

SIX things I'm afraid of:
1. something bad happening to the kids
2. something bad happening to rob
3. heights
4. infidelity
5. someone I love being hurt in a big bad way
6. apparently airplanes, though I still take them

FIVE things I don't like:
1. Politics
2. mean and hatelful people
3. most news – I give the station 3 stories to say something that isn’t awful...
4. basketball
5. our current administration

FOUR ways to turn me off:
1. being mean
2. being hurtful to those I love
3. talking politics (especially if you put down what I believe)
4. telling me “we need to talk”

THREE things I do every day:
1. tell rhys, irene, and rob that I love them the mostest
2. check e-mail
3. make a mess (stolen straight from Julie ZS, but oh so true!)

TWO things that make me happy:
1. holding rob’s hand
2.being with my children and being present in the moment.

ONE thing on my mind right now:
1. what is the world going to be like when my kids become adults. will we be more aware and doing more to help the earth, or will we be hurting her as much as we are now. will the u.s. still be a democracy? will we still have our rights?

You have such good answers!

I want to meet you tooooo. (And I love to fly so I would be glad to fly west. It's the whole time-and-money thing that gets me in trouble. Hmph.)

Speaking of travel, it sounds like if we could do a mind meld to share experiences, we'd have seen every US state, or pretty close to it. I've seen something like 25 - 27 (I need to count again) but most of the ones I've seen have been east of the Mississippi!

Your final thought on your mind gave me shivers. Amen, sister.

All right, you three! I will post mine tomorrow! I love learning more about everyone through these. I'll echo DebR with the last one.

Deb - yeah, that time and money thing. sucks, huh? someday we'll be independently wealthy and all will be well *smile* and funny about the states. i was looking at your travels and places you wanted to go. i've been lucky enough to see the grand canyon from both sides, and i've been to yellowstone twice. the last time was when irene was about 20 months, i think. we went with friends and had a wonderful time. we'd like to go again. and rob and i went w/the in-laws to alaska when i was 5 months pregnant w/irene. we sailed (well, motored) around admiralty island (where juneau is). it was beautiful. we saw a huge pod of wild orcas. man, it was magical.

julie - thank you :) oh yes, a good mess indeed *smile*

dara - do do do! can't wait to see yours.

and thanks, my friends, for checking out my blog :)
