and on another cool note

also on KTVU...
my little town of Hercules (not so little that it once was -- even when i lived there) is claiming imminent domain and not going to allow Evil Wal*Mart to come in. i REALLLLLLY hope this stays and that wal*mart goes somewhere else. my family and i are continuing our boycot of walmart. i think that some of the moms at irene's school think i'm a little crazy. ah well. it's just the way it is. for christmas, my dear friend, Anna, gave me Nickel and Dimed...on (NOT) getting by in America. one of the parts of the book talked about the author getting a job at walmart. very interesting. pretty much confirmed much of what i'd felt about it.

okay - off to bed now...

Is this your town in Nevada or back in California? That's amazing! I thought Walmart could roll over whoever and whatever they wanted. I thought *they* were the ones benefitting from eminent domain?

this is my teeny tiny town in california - where i lived when i was in high school. when we lived there, we had one, o.n.e. stoplight in town. no gas stations. a super market, a bank, and i think a restaurant. it's bigger now. they even have a home depot. and a mcdonalds.

our town in nevada just got a super walmart. most of the moms at school know what deals are happening there and tell everyone. and when they ask me if i have gone, i just say that i don't go there and if they ask, i explain a bit of why.
